Cornwall property

Cornwall, England

Port Navas sits at the head of an idyllic tidal creek on the north side of the Helford River. Once a small port, it is now a haven for sailors and a wonderful base for exploring the area by boat, foot or car. The sheltered waters of the Helford River are a well-known sailing ground. The Helford also has a number of small sandy beaches with rock pools: great fun for barbeques and crabbing. Good mackerel fishing too. There are several beautiful, sub-tropical gardens nearby, the majority of which are open all the year round. The Duchy Oyster Farm, where oysters are still farmed in the traditional way, is only a few hundred yards from the house. Falmouth is six miles away and St Ives and the north coast are less than an hour’s drive.

The House

Acquired by the present owners some time ago, Bosryn was fully modernised in 2007. The house, which can accommodate up to 8, fronts onto the creek and has steps down through the garden to its own granite quay. If you bring a boat it can be launched from the Port Navas village slipway or from Port Navas Yacht Club and brought round to the Bosryn moorings. Alternatively boats can be hired from nearby Helford Passage. There is a small tender available on the quay. The house includes:

Colourful Cornish creek-side garden with wonderful camellias etc. Steep steps down to the water’s edge. Huge teak deck over-looking the creek to the Helford River. Lots of furniture in the garden.

Free membership to the Port Navas Yacht Club, five minutes away by boat or on foot.

Due to the steep inclines and the close proximity of the water, the house may not be suitable for under-5s; equally the house may not suit the very elderly. Regretfully no animals.

Parking

Steep driveway with parking for two to three cars.

The Owners say:

“Bosryn is a great spot for a brilliant holiday. Full-on family fun in the summer with boating/sailing etc and an excellent base from which to explore the Helford River, the Fal Estuary and St. Mawes. A great place too, in the spring and autumn, for coastal walks and visits to local gardens. Whatever the time of year you can relax on the deck and watch the endless variety of boats messing about on the creek and the wonderful waders at low water.”
