The Apartment:
This apartment is up on the first floor of a well maintained period building at the heart of the harbour area of Ars en Re. The whole of the Ile de Re is a delightful holiday island and Ars, situated halfway up its 30km length, makes a great base to explore.
The apartment is securely situated through a small courtyard, up some steps, and is light and airy. It is very much a holiday place with no frills but all essentials, and the accommodation (which is suitable for a family with 2 children, or a couple, as there is one shared bathroom) includes:
A large living/dining room overlooking harbour and a door out to a charming roof terrace
kitchen area (oven, dishwasher, fridge)
A twin-bedded room overlooking the harbour
A separate loo.
A bathroom.(washing machine in here)
A double bedded bedroom accessed through the bathroom and with a door out to the terrace.
Access and location:
2 minutes from the market place and village square in one of the prettiest villages on the Ile de Re. 30 seconds from 3 restaurants - but very quiet and peaceful!
The Ile de Re is accessed from the mainland by a 3km long bridge. La Rochelle airport is just 45 minutes away from the property, and the train station has TGV services from round France.
The Owners say:
"This has been our family holiday home for 15 years - we love the village, the biking everywhere, the wonderful market and the many and varied restaurants. Our summers have been filled with sailing and swimming, some lovely concerts in pretty churches and the delightfully relaxed pace of life here. The fireworks and dancing in the square to celebrate Quatorze Juillet is a highlight.”
